“Forget the Skinny and Focus on the Fitness!”

Happy New Year – 2016 is going to be a GREAT YEAR!!

We know that quite a few of you are probably making a New Year’s Resolution to lose weight.  We would like to recommend that instead of focusing on weight loss, you focus on getting fitter and that means getting stronger!  Along with this commitment of getting fitter, let’s try to eat a little better as well.

FIRST join a gym somewhere.  You can find a gym membership around the country for as little as $10.00 a month, yes I said $10.00!  There is no reason not to join.  Then commit to go at least 3 days a week. The interesting thing about what you do when you go, is at first, it does not matter! Remember like it says in the header, the FIRST RULE of FITNESS is SHOWING UP which means that just going to the gym and doing any of the machines for an hour is going to be a GREAT start!

But of course, we are ALL busy and we also want RESULTS so a good thing to do when you are at the gym would be to do 30 minutes of cardio (treadmill, elliptical, stairs, bike or rowing machine) and then do some weight lifting afterwards using the machines. Start exercising the large muscles of the body and then go to the small.  So start with your legs, back and chest then move on to your shoulders, arms and abs.  Then stretch and GET OUT!

Do not try to spend over an hour working out.  Shoot for 3 days a week for 2 months and then after that try to add an additional day.  For a year, make it short and sweet, IN and OUT!  If you eat better and focus on getting fitter, your body (and mind) will get better and better everyday!
